Wiesen ist eine kleine Gemeinde im Burgenland, mit ca. 2800 Einwohnern und liegt nahe der Burg Forchtenstein und der Bezirkshauptstadt des Mittelburgenlandes Mattersburg. 2 Jahrhunderte lang, bis Christi Geburt, war die Gegend Teil des keltischen Königreiches Noricum und gehörte Wiesen und Umgebung zur keltischen Höhensiedlung Burg. Im römischen Imperium lag das heutige Wiesen dann in deren Provinz Pannonia.
Wiesen ist bekannt und berühmt für seine schmackhaften Erdbeeren, die Wiesener Ananas-Erdbeere die seit 1870 dort gepflanzt wird und für sein Festivals im Sommer auf dem Festivalgelände Gelände der Fam. Bogner, die dort seit 1976 stattfinden.
Wiesen is a small village in Burgenland, with about 2800 inhabitants and is located near Forchtenstein Castle and Matterburg the district capital of central Burgenland. For two centuries, until the birth of Christ this area was part of the Celtic kingdom of Noricum ( they belong to the Celtic hilltop settlement of Burg). Then, in the Roman Empire, today´s Wiesen was part of the province Pannonia
Wiesen is well known for its delicious strawberries, the so called „Wiesen Pineapple Strawberries“ (that were first planted there in 1870) and of course for its summer music festivals on the Bogner families festival venue. Since 1976 lots of festivals have taken place there.
